XC Log - Day 7 - Bandon D1: "It's a shpig!"

There’s just something special about the Oregon

Coast; and how wonderful to share it with friends!

We got a slow start this morning, due to my martini-making skills which, last night, were highly praised after the first batch and now I’m no longer allowed to make drinks for anyone. Pfft, lightweights.

As dedicated Deadliest Catch fans, a major coastal objective was crabbing. Tiernan, our host, hooked us up big time and in hardcore fisherman fashion, we dropped two pots with chicken leg bait from the dock, mingled with the locals (blending!) ...and left them there to go explore the area... Sig would be proud.

Steven, Nancy, and David had their maiden dipping-of-the-toes in the bitter cold waters of the Pacific as we explored the caves of Face Rock Beach, tortured giant sea anemones in tide pools, and felt the stinging coastal winds burn our cheeks.

For lunch, the best fish and chips on the planet, topped off with four different flavors of fudge from The Fudge Factory across the road. Gluttonous perfection.

We got skunked on the crab pots, but will try again tomorrow before heading out to a secret beach for the day.
