XC Log - Day 21: "Look at all those birds!"

We had the slowest start to this day, the last day, than any before.

I think we all stayed put because we knew if we got up, we’d eventually clean up, pack up, and leave...and no one said it out loud, but no one wanted to leave.

That’s my take anyway, but I’ve been known to be wrong...

Regardless, we silently decided to let time win again, and make the most of the day, starting with a stroll along the beach.

A thousand and one birds were feeding on something spectacular just beyond the tide pools and I could have stayed there forever, jumping from rock to rock, searching for treasures and gazing out at the ocean just to watch the brown pelicans nose-dive into the blue.

Alas, the road called.

We had a wonderful lunch in Santa Barbara, and hit our first bout of traffic in months, surprise-surprise, heading into Los Angeles.

It was as if the road itself, didn’t want us to end our road trip.

We made it home safe and sound, Steven at the helm. David and I were dropped off at our home in Studio City while Steven and Nancy landed in Sherman Oaks, a couple miles up the road...a couple miles and a million miles away.

This trip was chalk full of good fortune and we were so thrilled to share it with all of you.

Thank you all, sincerely, for following along with our adventure: Gray, Maine to Los Angeles, California!

I don’t even remember how this whole ”blog” (hate that word) idea began, but it was extra special to see comments, recommendations, and support from all of you. Amazing to see so many familiar faces along the way and, at the same time, I’m sorry we weren’t able to visit with a number of you.

All in all, who knew that worlds colliding could be a good thing?!

David and I could not ask for better travel partners than Steven and Nancy. I believe this is only the beginning of our adventures together.
