DAY 21 - THE GB LOOP LOG - "Follow that black car..."

The final day of the Great Britain Loop opened with a glorious curb check by Mr. Jordan. I think it may have been a pity-curb-hit...or perhaps, it was false-pheasant-guilt...knowing full well that bird is alive and well and I was unjustifiably on the receiving end of slander.

Regardless, the curb check competition concludes with a tie: 12-12.

It was about an hour and a half drive from Salisbury to the Heathrow Enterprise where we returned our rental Volvo, completely unscathed! The Enterprise gal did not have any interest in our curb-check competition and that sentiment will certainly be reflected in the survey, Lucy...

In the end, we drove over 3,300 miles and made three-times the memories.

A quick shuttle to the airport, a slight nightmare of liquid proportions at the security checkpoint, and a final pint later, we found ourselves at the Honduran bus stop equivalent of a major international airport terminal.

We boarded the flight, enjoying our extra Delta Premium leg room and free wine, and began the 10-hour journey of harsh, yet silent, judgement regarding what program is on your personal screen.

Nancy finally got through the new Indiana Jones movie on the sixth try in two flights. Steven enjoyed Curb Your Enthusiasm... a classic. David watched a series of random independent films, of which no one has ever seen. And I began the journey home with the original Ghostbusters, it being Halloween, and ranged anywhere and everywhere from Shrek to The Edge of Tomorrow in my cannot-sleep-on-any-sort-of-transportation-ever delirium.

Landing at LAX, we cruised through customs (sadly, no stamps again...) and successfully found our driver who took us home with surprising ease.

Beyond a very long day, we ran into practically zero travel issues.

All in all, we were incredibly fortunate when it came to traffic, weather, and all of those other uncontrollable aspects of travel.

We got stuck once for 15 minutes, on the way to Evanton, because someone in a Mini Cooper missed a turn and drove off a cliff...but beyond that...we were good!

A big thanks for those of you who stuck with us and came along for the ride.

It’s so much more enjoyable to engage in the sharing of adventures, rather than just telling you what we’re doing and where we’re going.

This was a real run-and-gun trip that we all planned together with calendars, maps, travel guides, and martinis. If anyone is interested in some of the planning details, let me know, I’d be happy to share what worked for us.

To Steven, David, and Nancy...I could not ask for better travel companions.

Here’s hoping our next adventure will be back at the studio, working on another television program or film...so we can hit the road again in the near future.

Cheers!
